Reviews

One of the problems that many managers experience is lack of comprehensive and continuous (or any at all) management development training. According to the data published by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in 2023, more than four in every five managers in the UK have had no management or leadership training. The other problem is the lack of resources, including time, to dedicate to formal management training.

This is a guide i wish i’d had when i first became a manager in the N.H.S, a while ago now. Nick is able to make the subject interesting enough to read straight through but the book is also very good for dipping into as and when required.

Covering a huge amount of ground, I found myself skipping from one topic to the next, refreshing my knowledge on some, while learning new insights on others. The further reading suggestions are an extra gift from Nick. This is a resource every manager should have at their fingertips!
